The Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio asked for patience all week. The Oaks Course played long, wet, and demanding, especially after Saturday rain delays left much of the field with extra work on Sunday. This is not a course that gives much away. It asks for clean ball-striking, discipline, and a willingness to take the round in front of you. J.J. Spaun won at -17, but nobody coasted there.

Andrew Putnam gave us the best look at the top of the board, finishing T5 at -15 after rounds of 66, 68, 69, and 70. He was in real contention late on Sunday and stood on the 18th needing birdie to force a playoff. His wedge found the back bunker and the week ended with bogey instead. Even so, four rounds like that on this course say plenty. He handled the walk, stayed in position, and gave himself a chance coming home.

Mark Hubbard opened with a 65 to lead the field outright after Round 1, which is worth noting on its own. Going low on the PGA TOUR is never casual work. The weekend was tougher, and he finished T65 after rounds of 72, 75, and 74. Chris Kirk was the steady one in the group, posting 70, 69, 71, and 72 to finish T36 at -6. Joel Dahmen, Dylan Wu, and Chandler Blanchet missed the cut.

Next up is the Masters Tournament at Augusta National. None of our TRUE ambassadors are in the field this week, but it is still the walk everyone in golf thinks about. Augusta remains the standard players measure themselves against, whether they are there or not. For our team, that is part of the point. The work continues long before the invitation does.
